| "I had a red doll at home". The teacher wanting to correct the grammar repeated for the child: "You mean "I have a red doll at home." The child looked up with excitement in her eyes "Me too. Me too!" The teacher thinking the child was not "getting it" repeated: "NO, you mean: I have a red doll at home". The child more vehemently repeated "Yes, yes. Me too! Me too!" Who is not getting it!!! |
The children were watching Thomas the Engine Movie.
To make the viewing more educational I was asking questions as the movie
was playing. One question was posed to a 4 year old boy:
"Have
you ever been on a REAL train?" The little boy answered: "Yes,
but it was not a real train because HE was not talking". Taking
great care not to laugh, I turn my head as a 4 year old girl was
pulling at my arm, with a sarcastic smile on her face and waving
her hand as to dismiss the boy's response. "Ms. Anne-Marie" she
said, "he does not know what he is talking about." And with a
spark in her beautiful blue eyes she added "Trains are girls!"
